Still holding the glass slipper …

Ever meet a wonderful dog and just KNOW “this one is not mine”?

Summer is a sweetheart – very funny, smart, high-energy loves to run and play – retrieve, tug, whatever – was fine with Bryce and Jayda. Very tuned-in to her foster mom, she didn’t hesitate to play with me but would constantly sneak little “check in” glances at “mom” to make sure it was OK. I could easily see her doing flyball, agility – I bet she’d love herding!

She just wasn’t “mine”. If anyone reads this and thinks she could be “theirs”, let me know – I’d love to help her find “her person” – she deserves it!

She does have allergies – and they’re worse than I had thought. Will take dedication and determination to get those under control. Her tests showed some sensitivity to cat dander – not HIGH sensitivity, but living with my 3 cats wouldn’t be doing her any favors.

She’s a very “busy” dog, a bit skittish, a “circler” (counterclockwise :) ) when she gets “overloaded”, and very hand-shy, but underneath there’s a bold streak. She startled at seeing me set up my tent crates for B & J, then came right over to investigate. Good “bounce-back”.

Her favorite thing in the whole world is having someone kick a deflated soccer ball across the yard for her to chase and retrieve. She runs after it as fast as she can, never seems to tire of retrieving it. Thinking of her sad beginning, it’s breathtakingly beautiful to watch!

Not having a fenced yard, that’s something I couldn’t give her, and I would just as soon take that away from her as separate Bryce from his duck!

It was sad to walk away from her – but it was the right thing to do.

Jayda and Bryce will keep you busy for a while. Get a nice new big car first!
    :-)

I made myself laugh thinking that the rescue may turn you down anyway for not having a fenced yard! hahahahahaha

Pat fits 4 Shelties in a vehicle that’s a little smaller than mine. I *wish* I had a yard that was easy to fence – it would be a 5 figure project (cutting down trees, clearing the land, bringing in topsoil, building a retaining wall, then the fence – and my town has stupid rules about how high parts of a fence can be if its past the front of your house) … and the kicker is that I’d still have to escort my dogs from the house to the yard on leash because none of my doors open onto anything fence-able!

I was all approved – passed the home check and everything :P! And I do miss having a sable face to look at :(.
